Masood Tayebi, Ph.D.
Dr. Tayebi is currently the chairman of Biotech Investment Group, a San Diego private equity firm, with key investments in protein therapeutics, molecular diagnostics, pharmaceutical formulation and manufacturing.
Dr. Tayebi brings the wealth of experience and critical insights into the service sector, gained through his success in the telecom industry, and in founding BioDuro, a preclinical CRO he successfully guided to acquisition by Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD) in November 2009.
Dr. Tayebi has been involved in founding, financing, and managing numerous companies. He founded, built, and managed WFI, the leading global services firm to the wireless industry, with over 2,700 employees and operations in over 60 countries. In 2000, WFI had a market capitalization of over $7 billion. On September 17, 2003, Wireless Facilities Inc. announced it had changed its name to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions.
Dr. Tayebi is a direct investor with sizable holdings in 9 venture firms including Oak Investment Partners and Credit Suisse's venture fund.
Prior to co-founding WFI, Dr. Tayebi enjoyed a successful engineering career with several multinational corporations including British Telecom and LCC International.
Dr. Tayebi and his brother, Massih Tayebi, received the Ernst and Young 2000 Entrepreneur of the Year award in San Diego.
Dr. Tayebi received his PhD in mobile radio propagation from the University of Liverpool, and his M.S. in electronics engineering from the University of Southampton.

Dr. Massih Tayebi is president and CEO of Rapid Bridge as well as chairman and CEO of Bridge West, LLC, an investment firm specializing in the development of emerging technology companies.
Dr. Tayebi is a co-founder and former chairman and CEO of Wireless Facilities Inc. (WFI), a global leader in telecommunications outsourcing specializing in the planning, design, deployment and management of wireless telecommunications networks. On September 17, 2003, Wireless Facilities Inc. announced it had changed its name to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions.
Dr. Tayebi is also the co-founder and former Chairman of several businesses, including Business Corporation International (BCI), Qthink, and MIR3.Â He also serves on the Advisory Board for Shelter Capital Partners and served as Member of the Advisory Board at Prodea Systems, Inc.
Dr. Tayebi served on the senior faculty of the engineering department at the University of Paisley in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Tayebi and his brother, Masood Tayebi, received the Ernst and Young 2000 Entrepreneur of the Year award in San Diego; the 2000 American Electronics Association High Technology Industry Recognition Award for telecommunications services; and the 1999 Venture Capital Success Story award by the San Diego Venture Group.
Dr. Tayebi holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. degree from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom.
